Codigo 1530 Rosa Tequila

Motivated by the snow-heavy winter, we’ve been planning our entertaining guide to Cinco de Mayo for quite some time. When I found a beautiful bottle of Tequila Rosa in Arizona, my eyes got those little emoji hearts, and I lovingly packed and carried it back to then still-snowing Massachusetts.

Because of my Tequila find, next in our Tequila line-up is the delicate and simply lovely rosa tequila by Codigo 1530. As you might have guessed, it’s pink! That’s right rosé season just got a lot more interesting!

Codigo 1530 has been well-known among influential families in Mexico for generations. A curated recipe of premium ingredients, this once privately made and consumed Tequila is now turning up in select areas across the country.

Codigo 1530 or “code and conduct” strictly follows the diligence and passion that went into the original recipe and sourcing of premium ingredients.

So, how did they make a Tequila Rosa? Using Napa Cabernet French White Oak barrels, that precious Tequila Blanco takes a little break and rests for one month in those barrels, imparting a lovely color and subtle flavor.

Divine.

I brought the Codigo 1530 Tequila Rosa back to my hospitality junkie and Cinco de Mayo partner in crime, Mia Andreoli.

We decided this beautiful Tequila would make the perfect pair with our grilled shrimp. Mia also crafted a jaw-dropping cocktail using this newly found obsession. I named it the Mia Rosa!

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Codigo 1530 Rosa tequila
  • 1 Ounce Gran Classico (or Compari)
  • Dash of dry Vermouth
  • Twist of orange
  • Spray rose & orange peel for garnish

Instructions

  1. Carefully peel orange, removing the pith off the back. Use this as a “basket” for the rose.
  2. Place garnish in or on the side of martini glass.
  3. Rub the rim with extra peel and twist to release orange oils.
  4. Combine all ingredients over ice and shake.
  5. Strain into garnished glass.
  6. Taste and enjoy this delicate and floral drink!
